Andrea Warren, author of Charles Dickens and the Street Children of London, was one of three finalists in the recently awarded Thorpe Menn Literary Award.

Winner was Candice Millard with Destiny of the Republic: A Tale of Madness, Medicine and the Murder of a President. Another finalist was Carolyn Glenn Brewer with Caught Ever After: Children of the Ruskin Heights Tornado. The Thorpe Menn award is given annually by the Kansas City branch of the American Association of University Women. Thorpe Menn was a previous books editor of The Kansas City Star.
