A statue of William B. Strang, a roll of blueprints in his hand, stands at the heart of Overland Park, Santa Fe Trail and 80th Street. Strang was the developer and owner of the Strang Line Railroad, which ran from Olathe to Kansas City, MO, from the 1900s to the 1940s.

A new book of historic images captures the history of Overland Park, from its founding by Strang in 1906 to the present. Images of America: Overland Park, was compiled by Suzee SoldanEls Oberg and the Overland Park Historical Society. Images—black-and-white photos, ink drawings, and maps were selected by F.W. Wagner.
