As part of the continuing third Tuesday poetry nights at the Johnson County Central Resource Library, Thomas Fox Averill and Dennis Etzel, Jr., will be heard at 7 pm on Tuesday, January 15.

From the library website: An O. Henry Award winning short story writer, Thomas Fox Averill is Writer-in-residence and Professor of English at Washburn University of Topeka. He has published three short story collections, and the most recent one, Ordinary Genius, inaugurated the Flyover Fiction Series at the University of Nebraska Press. His most recent novel, rode, was named Outstanding Western Novel of 2011 as part of the Western Heritage Awards administered by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City. rode was also a Spur Finalist, a Kansas Notable Book, and a finalist in New Mexico/Arizona Book Awards. His work has been published in New Letters, I-70 Review, Kansas City Voices, North American Review, Little Balkans Review, and other journals.

Dennis Etzel Jr. lives in Topeka where he teaches at Washburn University. He has an MFA from The University of Kansas. His work has appeared in Denver Quarterly, BlazeVOX, Indiana Review, DIAGRAM, and others.
